About Leila

I was born and raised in Tehran, Iran, where I studied painting at Azad University. Although I explored many styles of painting, my primary focus was figurative and abstract work in oil and acrylic. During that time, my work was featured in several exhibitions and publications, laying the foundation for my artistic career.

As an adult, I moved to Vancouver, Canada, and pursued a diploma in FX Makeup at Vancouver Film School. After graduating, I worked on independent films and television productions as a special effects makeup artist. While the experience was creatively rewarding, I realized my true passion lay elsewhere.

That search led me to sculpture—a medium that reignited my creativity and allowed me to express myself in three dimensions. My early body of work focused primarily on figurative sculpture and portraiture, celebrating the beauty, strength, and emotion of the human form. Working in clay has given me the freedom to explore expression, anatomy, and storytelling in ways that continue to challenge and inspire me.

Today, my creative journey is constantly evolving. I believe that every sculpture teaches me something new, and that growth comes through curiosity, experimentation, and persistence. Teaching has become an important part of that journey as well. Sharing knowledge with my students not only allows me to pass on my experience, but also deepens my own understanding and continues to shape me as an artist. Every class is an opportunity to learn, discover, and grow together.

As I continue creating, I look forward to exploring new ideas, pushing the boundaries of my work, and finding inspiration in everyday life. For me, art is a lifelong journey of learning, creating, and connecting with others through the universal language of sculpture.
